First Grade Dolphin News
The students had a wonderful week of learning! They made hands and wrote about what peace means to them to honor Martin Luther King Jr. They continued to work on subtraction to 10. They wrote a rainbow poem with words that describe themselves and made 3D rainbows. They drew pictures of our church and wrote about what they love about St. John School!
Catholic Schools Week is here! Please remember to join us at 10:30 Mass on Sunday and then at the Open House, following immediately after. Be sure to stop by Egan Hall to visit the cultural fair, the second floor for some tasty treats, and check out the second-grade classrooms (portables). To celebrate this special time, each day will represent something different.

100th Day Project: The 100th day of school is fast approaching. To celebrate, students are asked to collect 100 words from magazines, newspapers, etc. Students will record their words on the homework grid and then use them to design a poster. Words can be arranged in a word, picture, pattern, or design of your choosing. Posters should be no larger than 35” x 25”. Posters and word lists are due February 19 (assignment description was sent home last week).
Reading Bags: Please remember to tell your child to bring their reading bag to school on Mondays. It is okay if you didn’t get to read to him/her on the weekend. We need the books back so we can use them for reading groups each day. Thank you! I only sent bags with the students who have Mrs. McCarthy!
