This week we continued our journey to Jesus as we change our hearts for Lent. Next week we will celebrate the holiest week of the Church year! I want your family to experience this week so the homework is focused on Religion. Please keep the purple Holy Week packet at home over Easter break (there is something for Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday).
The first graders learned about our virtue of the month, forgiveness using the parable of the Prodigal Son. Then they worked on their Stations of the Cross book. I will send this home next week so that your family can pray the stations at home during Holy Week. The first graders took a test on double-digit addition and subtraction and began their unit on data and graphing using tally charts.
In the next week I will be sending home math workbooks. Please look over the book with your child. During this year when we worked on addition and subtraction facts I used many different strategies to teach them (manipulatives, white boards, interactive journals, etc.) and sometimes we did not complete the workbook pages. This is why you may see blank pages. You can have your child complete the blank pages during summer months as good practice. You do not need to turn it in. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Summer Birthdays: We will celebrate July and August birthdays this month since we have no birthdays in April. Your child is welcome to bring a book to share with the class (that I can read). We will make special birthday books for them to take home.
