April 13, 2018

Welcome to the wonderful season of Easter. The Church celebrates for the next 50 days! Alleluia! The students came back rested and ready to learn. In math, first graders wrapped up geometry and fractions. In science we continued our habitat unit on the Polar habitat with a focus on Antarctica. Our culminating activity was polar art , either arctic (polar bears) or Antarctic (penguins) depending on the student’s opinion of which was the best polar region. Students learned about the 4 gospels, virtue of justice, and learned about Divine Mercy Sunday (see attached prayer on email).

Habitat Day and Project: Save the date! May 23 will be Habitat Day in First Grade. To prepare for this day your children will create their very own 3D habitats and write animal reports. I will send home a Habitat Planning Sheet for your child to complete next week!

Miss Feeney’s 1st Grade Project

“A Dolphin in Flight”

Miss Feeney’s 1st grade class presents: “A Dolphin in Flight”. This mosaic masterpiece features a majestic dolphin leaping into the air in view of a blazing sunrise while the waves of the ocean lap eagerly at the dolphin’s fluke, inviting it to return to the sea. This whimsical piece represents the first grade journey (lovingly reflected by their class mascot, Bob the Dolphin) as they navigate the water towards 2nd grade. The intricate tile design, painstakingly created by their hands, shimmers and sparkles in the sunlight and is certain to bring joy to those who gaze upon it.

Value: Cheerful Dolphins at Work and Play
