This is it!

First Grade Dolphin News (The Last Edition!)

Happy Summer Break! The first graders enjoyed their last few days of school. On Tuesday they visited 2nd grade during Bump Up day to ask questions in preparation for 2nd grade.  Then they performed their Spanish play for the 2nd grade students. Today we ended our special week with a wonderful Mass where we learned how much God loves us.  Please check your child’s folder (bag) for his/her report card, STAR report, MAP test results, and SLE rubric.

I want to give a special thank you to my parent volunteers this year. Thank you to the Lawrences for being wonderful room parents and helping organize the volunteer sign ups and parties. Thank you to Mrs. Erickson and Mrs. Overland for inventive, creative art projects this year. Thank you parents who signed up to help during Daily 5, sight words, and math facts. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped out on the field trips, helping with special events like Christmas Around the World and special parties. Last, but not least, thank you to all the parents who helped their children this year by preparing them for each day, reading with them, helping with homework, and supporting them this year.  I appreciate it!   Check your child’s bag for a special Thank you card!

Thank you for a wonderful year in first grade!  Miss Brito and I appreciate all your support this year. We couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for trusting us with your child. You and your child can come by and visit next year.  Have a wonderful summer and don’t forget to have your child pray, read, and play everyday!

Mrs. Molly Jessup

First Grade Dolphins News

It is hard to believe we only have one more full week of school.  This week we began learning about the 7 Sacraments, reviewed our core math concepts, and continued our study of the Oceans.

Please remember to check your child’s folder daily; there are lots of important items that will be coming home over the next few weeks of school.  Today I sent home the last math workbook.  Check for any pages your child needs to complete! Thanks!

Habitat Day

THIS Monday, June 10th, students will meet in Egan Hall first thing in the morning. Please bring your 3D model and report to Egan Hall. Mrs. Peoples and I will be there at 8:05 to help students get set up. Students who are coming from XDC will be escorted to Egan Hall. Parents are invited to tour habitat projects at the end of the day from 2:30 – 3:00. If you are unable to make it at the end of the day, we will be showing our habitats to visiting classes from 8:05-9:45, 10:15 – 11:00, and 2:00 – 3:00.  At 3:00 you can take the habitat models home!

Tuesday Notes:

We will have Buddy Lunch on Tuesday for all students so lunch will be provided!  If your child has allergies, please bring a disposable lunch.    Also, the first graders will dance for their buddies at the 8th Grade Goodbye Assembly.  They are welcome to bring sunglasses for the dance.  Here is the link to the song to practice at home!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NAYz0zh_Es.

Last Call for Library Books!
All books not returned by Wednesday, June 12th will be considered lost and billed for replacement cost. Thanks!

Field Trip:

Friday, June 14th the first grade is headed to Brackett’s Landing in Edmonds for a Ranger Beach Walk at low tide from about 9:00am-12:30pm.  Your child may be in free dress this day, but will need to wear rubber/rain boots and please make sure they are otherwise dressed appropriately for that day’s weather.  We will go rain or shine and will be wading in tide pools!

We will eat lunch there so please send a disposable sack lunch with your child. (also pack a separate snack for your child to eat when we return to school) Please drop off booster seats (if your child requires one) in the hallway near our classroom in the morning and make sure your booster is labeled with your name!
